Born in Valleyfield, Quebec, in 1959.
Self-taught, Yvon St-Aubin is both a musician and a painter. He studied music and played professionally when he was in his twenties. Afterwards, St-Aubin learnt to draw in the company of artists Clarence Bourgoin and Mario Beaudoin. While sketching with his mentors and other landscape artists, he discovered and fell in love with the region of Charlevoix.
Now, his work is mainly concentrated on capturing the beauty of this region, making it accessible to others. The landscapes he brings forth, bathe in the soft, warm light of an ending afternoon. He also distinguishes himself by the use of vivid colours and playful compositions. In the year 2002, he was named Charlevoix’s artist of the year.
